The Baa Atoll Council, together with Visit Maldives Corporation and Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve is set to host a historic attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous snorkeling event on 18 October 2025.

Titled as the "Baani" Event, this remarkable gathering will bring together around 1,000 participants at Vilingilifaru Finolhu in Baa Atoll — a pristine sandbank celebrated for its turquoise lagoon, vibrant reefs, and rich marine biodiversity.

More than a record-breaking endeavour, the "Baani" Event is a celebration of the Maldives’ extraordinary marine and terrestrial environment, baa atoll's rich culture and a call to action for responsible tourism and environmental stewardship.

By uniting participants in this shared experience, the initiative underscores the importance of protecting delicate ocean ecosystems and honors the communities and individuals who sustain the Maldives’ world-renowned tourism industry.
