Cycle 2 – Development of 2 Bedroom Apartments on 13 Inhabited Islands

At the BACF Board meeting held on 28 January 2019 a decision was taken by the Baa Atoll Conservation Board to develop two-bedroom apartments on each of the 13 inhabited islands of the atoll which would result in in a tangible output and act as a source of revenue directly to all the Island Councils.

It was further approved in the meeting MVR 3,000,000.00 (Three Million Maldivian Rufiya) to be awarded as grants from BACF for cycle 2 for the development on all 13 islands.

It was also mentioned in this meeting that Baa Atoll Council would match the amount proposed by the BACF Board and the Atoll Council would also bear the cost of all engineering drawings for the proposed developments and will act as the main focal point to implement these 13 projects.

All 13 two-bedroom apartments have been completed on all the islands and presently these apartments serve as a medium of revenue directly to the island communities through the Island Councils.
